Is It Getting Hot in Here? Three of the Steamiest International Movie Pairings Coming Our Way Include an Intriguing Game of Thrones Duo

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival, presided over by Jury President, Cate Blanchett kicks off in France May 8th, and in celebration of all the international hotness headed our way, here are three of the hottest movie pairings we could hope to see making their debut this year. From Scotland to England, and Spain to Denmark and the Netherlands, the multinational casts of these upcoming movies might take away your breath.

Everybody Knows

Directed and written by Asghar Farhadi (A Separation); starring real-life husband and wife, Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, Barbara Lennie, Ricardo Darin and Inma Cuesta.

Psychological thriller wherein Cruz’s married (to Javier, duh!) with children, Spanish-born Laura returns with the family to her hometown for a celebration, where “unforeseen events” cause their lives to completely change.

Domino

Directed by Brian De Palma (Scarface, Dressed to Kill, The Untouchables, The Black Dahlia), written by Petter Skavlan (Sweetwater, 12th Man); starring Game of Thrones‘ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Carice van Houten, Guy Pearce (van Houton’s real-life partner and father of her child), Eriq Ebouaney and Thomas W. Gabrielsson.

Crime thriller with van Houton and Coster-Waldau playing rogue police partners hunting down a cop-killer who took down one of their own. Chasing across Europe amidst terror attacks, they discover a disturbing connection between the CIA and the man they’re hunting.

The Little Stranger

Directed by Lenny Abrahamson (Room, Frank), written by Lucinda Coxon (The Danish Girl); starring Domhnall Gleeson and Ruth Wilson, Charlotte Rampling, and Will Poulter, based on the Sarah Waters novel.

This supernatural horror disrupts the life of quiet Doctor Faraday (Gleeson), when he’s called to the place where his mother once worked as a housemaid, and where Ruth Wilson’s Caroline and her brother are haunted by something that will soon pull in the good doctor, as well (Here’s hoping it’s Ruth). Scheduled for an August 31st release.
