We All Have Our Own … Demons: Tom Hardy Takes on a Symbiote in the First Venom Trailer

Hey, yo … how come there’s no Venom in the Venom trailer?

Or … is there?

The first teaser from Sony features Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock under mysterious circumstances in a hospital (ish) room. Whether or when he becomes host to an alien symbiote, who can say? But there is a glimpse of … well, have a look for yourself.

I’ve gotta say, I think I like it. It’s good to have a trailer that doesn’t give everything away, and while we don’t see Hardy all Venom-ed out, the tension is great. There are enough allusions to make things interesting.

Michelle Williams costars as Ann Weying (who has her own issues), Riz Ahmed is Life Foundation CEO, Carlton Drake, and Tom Holland’s Spidey is rumored for a cameo. With Zombieland‘s Ruben Fleischer at the helm, this is sure to be a different brand of comic superfilm.

Venom hits theaters October 5, 2018.

  • Oddly my 2nd thought after “it’s going to be so weird hearing Tom Hardy without his accent” was “holy hell is that Reid Scott?” which probably no one else thought. But i’m a weirdo. Also um…. They couldn’t get Michelle a better wig?
