Unsane: Steven Soderbergh and Claire Foy Explore Fear Together and the Result Is Unnerving

When you think about how easily you could find yourself in Claire Foy’s shoes when, in the middle of this Unsane tease, her panic slowly spreads toward your own chest, it almost takes you by surprise. The premise is simple:  a woman is involuntarily committed, confronted by her worst fear, and has to figure out what’s real. We’ve seen the story before, but not in this way; director Steven Soderbergh shot it on an iPhone and even in this short clip, it’s clear this will be another star turn for Foy.

Can you say “personal nightmare”?

Unsane also stars Joshua Leonard, Jay Pharoah, Juno Temple, Aimee Mullins and Amy Irving; it premieres at the Berlin Film Festival, and hits theaters March 23rd.
