Could It Be … Finally? Black Widow‘s Standalone Movie Scores a Writer

Since Scarlett Johansson first starred in 2010’s Iron Man 2, fans have been clamoring for a Black Widow standalone movie, seemingly to no avail, despite Kevin Feige saying discussions were taking place.  Here it is, 2018 … and heck, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Thor have all broken out on their own, while Widow’s just hanging around, waiting for her time to come.

In fact, people have gotten so jaded waiting for news, I recently read someone lamenting that Jennifer Lawrence’s Red Sparrow (which … meh on that trailer) is the closest we’d ever get. But lo and behold, this afternoon we heard that after meeting with several candidates, Feige has chosen writer, Jac Schaeffer (TiMER, Nasty Women) to write the screenplay. Variety notes Schaeffer caught the Marvel Studio president’s eye with her Black List script, The Shower (Anne Hathaway is attached to star).

Wait, so we actually have TWO (Captain Marvel) female-led and written Marvel movies headed our way?

I almost don’t know how to act.

Now, we just need to see if Scarlett actually gets paid more than any male actors in her own headliner.

Black Widow will be in theaters … someday.
