Has CNN Figured Out How to Deal with the Worst Kind of Internet Troll? *Update: Trump Jr. Tweets His Response

Before we get started, if over the course of the July 4th holiday weekend you somehow missed yet another of 45’s idiotic tweets — which has much to do with CNN’s expert troll-handling — let’s get you up to date. The inexplicably still in office, Trumpster-in-Chief sent yet another message out to the world about how butthurt he’s feeling over coverage of his lunacy; his latest attempt to convince morons that outlets who have the audacity to cover him in an anything other than fawning way are purveyors of so-called “fake news”.

As you can see by the use of this idiotic, blowhard gif/looping video, 45 actually enjoys visualizing himself beating up and “defeating” CNN, because they’re so mean to him.

In the wake of this latest juvenile, foolhardy tweet, the hunt was on to find whomever created 45’s apparent dreamthreat; lo and behold he stepped right up to gloat, and greet his adoring fans. Reddit user HanAssholeSolo (who has since deleted his account) was quickly heralded by online pals after this acknowledgement:

Holy shit!! I wake up and have my morning coffee and who retweets my shitpost but the MAGA EMPORER himself!!! I am honored!!”

Would you believe the self-proclaimed “Asshole” (Personally, I’d rather not associate a Star Wars favorite with this crap) isn’t just a 45 defender; he also seems to enjoy bragging about carrying weapons to stab Muslims, and spewing antisemitic …

… and racist venom? (Of course you would.)

But hey, guess what? The “person” behind all that hatred is … surprise! an actual coward who, when expertly tracked down by CNN’s investigative team, Kfile, suddenly became quite contrite, made a public apology on reddit, and has basically begged CNN not to out him.

After posting his apology, “HanA**holeSolo” called CNN’s KFile and confirmed his identity. In the interview, “HanA**holeSolo” sounded nervous about his identity being revealed and asked to not be named out of fear for his personal safety and for the public embarrassment it would bring to him and his family.”

Here, via Buzzfeed News, is “Asshole’s” statement:

Well, will you look at that.

Following the real “Asshole” contacting CNN, the news outlet said that because he is a private citizen who “showed his remorse, taken down all his offending posts” and promised not to be a public slimeball on social media again, they will not reveal his true identity, however

CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.”

Is it just me, or have they come up with the perfect way to handle internet trolls?

*Update:  In predictable fashion, Donald Trump Jr. tweeted (like father …) his irritation with CNN’s investigative prowess, suggests his idea for better use of their time:

Junior also doubled-down, tweeting his apparent support of Julian Assange’s allegation that CNN is “blackmailing” “Asshole” with their (above) statement about reserving the right to publish the redditor’s identity — NOT, his other personal information (such as phone number, address):

While the Trumps are flailing and whining in defense of a racist, vile excuse for a human being, Republicans continue their march on rendering our healthcare system utterly useless, and North Korea is testing out intercontinental ballistic missiles … nothing to see here, right?
