Who Might Shioli Kutsuna Be Playing in Deadpool 2?

When I went to see Wonder Woman a couple of weeks ago, a teaser for Ryan Reynolds’ next movie played, and I’m pretty sure I audibly groaned. He’s (literally) playing The Hitman’s Bodyguard — with Samuel L. Jackson as the titular killer — and despite the fun cast (Gary Oldman, Élodie Yung, Salma Hayek), it looks like a hot mess. In particular, Reynolds came off utterly flat and I remember thinking that despite being the absolute perfect Deadpool, it’s possible (as an actor) he simply can’t do anything else.

All that to say, I do so adore him as Wade Wilson, and can’t wait to see the next installment. Which brings us to today’s news, and some rampant and probably ridiculous speculation. Via Deadline, Shioli Kutsuna (Oh Lucy!, Bitter Blood, Unforgiven) is playing a “key role” in Deadpool, and after scouring the interwebs, here are a few possibilities as to what that might mean.

  1.  My Utterly Uninformed Guess:  Shiklah

The undead, shapeshifting demon was once married to our hero, and helped out the boys in Deadpool & Cable: Split Second.

2.  The Internet’s Really Random Guesses:  Surge or Sunpyre

Peripheral mutants …

3.  The Internet’s Wild Wonderings about a Possibly Connected Character:  Siryn

This one doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, but … because people believe Jack Kesy is playing Black Tom (officially, his role is under wraps), I’ve seen a guess that Kutsuna could be his pseudo daughter (Siryn aka Theresa Cassidy, who was actually fathered by Black Tom’s cousin, Sean).

4.  Popular Theory:  Psychlocke

Mutant superhero united with Deadpool in X-Force.

I know you have your own guesses, so shout out in the comments.

Deadpool 2 also stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Josh Brolin, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams, Zazie Beetz, Stefan Kapicic, Karan Soni and Jack Kesy; it’s out June 1, 2018.
