Luc Besson’s Final Valerian Trailer Proves It Will Be a Stunningly Gorgeous Visual Feast

Just about every second of this last Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets trailer is giffable, so if the storytelling holds up, we’re in for the greatest treat since Luc Besson’s Fifth Element (still great) … I really hope the narrative holds up. Based on Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières’s graphic novel, Valérian and Laureline, which follows the special operatives and titular characters on a mission to save planet Alpha from a dark force, Besson’s take stars Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne, Clive Owen as their commander, Rihanna as a shapeshifter, Ethan Hawke as a pimp, and Rutger Hauer — in a thus far secret role.

It’s got all the proper moving parts; all we can do now is ready our helmets,

gif it out, and wait for July 21st. Here’s the final tease:

Space dino?

Look at these shots! Breathtaking …

Jar Jar’s dad, is that you?

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets also stars John Goodman (voice), Kris Wu, Sam Spruell, Herbie Hancock, Alain Chabat, Mathieu Kassovitz and Jonas Bloquet; it rockets

into theaters this July.

It looks pretty, but I worry about the Cara Delevigne element. She was the weakest actor in Suicide Squad. By far. I’ll be interested to see some reviews.
