I’m proud to say that along with so many around the world, this past Saturday my oldest daughter and I participated in the Women’s March, which should really be called the People’s March, since there were all genders, colors and ages (babies and dogs, oh my!) out on the streets. It was heartening to see so many gathered to peacefully protest; the prevailing mood was hopeful determination. I saw nothing but patience and kindness as the New York City group inched toward 5th Avenue and the Trump Towers; as women proclaimed “My body, my choice” they were immediately echoed by male voices: “Her body, her choice”. Cheering rolled through the crowd in waves (it gave me chills every time), and other chants — like this one — had us all cringe-chuckling even as we said it, because when the POTUS bragged about grabbing pussy, there was nothing funny about it.
Of the wonderfully clever and biting homemade signs we saw, there were two that truly stood out. The first is simply an awesome and amazing work of art (I’ll happily credit if the creator is known):
The second is nothing short of brilliant and so far, it’s the best sign I’ve seen — in New York or anywhere:
Thank you to all who gathered to peacefully protest and to support equality for all people.
