Are we watching the full trailer or the full movie? That’s often the conundrum we face when final film teasers are revealed, and, nine times out of ten, I fall on Team Less is More. Don’t give us the whole darned story before we go! But this; this magical Fantastic Beasts world is so extraordinary, I do believe we should just revel in every second.
There’s a lot to take in: many characters and what appears to be an entire plotline. Set in America during the early 20s, creature curator — magizoologist — Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) arrives from across the pond, curious case in hand. There’s mention of Grindelwald‘s (considered the second — behind Voldemort — most dangerous dark wizard in Britain) attacks in Europe; were we to catch sight of him in the Beasts world, Gellert Grindelwald would be about 44 (born in 1882; Beasts takes place in 1926). There are creatures galore and, though Scamander does his best to keep them contained, it looks as if their running amok has exceptionally exponential effects.
Can’t keep a lid on that kind of awesome.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them also stars Colin Farrell, Katherine Waterston, Samantha Morton, Ron Perlman, Jon Voight, and Ezra Miller. It magically appears in theaters November 18th.
