***Spoilers: Spoilers for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story follow. Spoilers***
If we so desire, there’s a ton of information about Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars entry, Rogue One. Some might say there’s almost too much, but, personally, I love all the little teases and hints, especially the connections to Star Wars Original Flavor (aka A New Hope). As ever was and ever will be, fathers continue to loom large over the universe; we already know Mads Mikkelsen plays Galen Erso — rebel leader Jyn Erso’s (Felicity Jones) father — and, as of a few weeks ago, Darth Vader (who’ll be once again voiced by James Earl Jones) was officially confirmed for a Rogue One appearance. Friday, a third paternal figure quietly acknowledged that fans who spotted him in the sizzle reel were correct.
Yup, that’s Jimmy Smits’ Bail Organa, Leia’s adoptive father, and you can watch him coyly cajoled into admitting:
… the rumors are true:
Never mind that the always underrated Smits downplays his “small part;” the actor is a thrilling addition to the incredible cast, and we cannot wait to joyfully sprint to the theater opening day (December 16th).
Disney made another exciting announcement yesterday: we’ll get a new Rogue One trailer this week. Just … good luck figuring out how to catch it live (thanks, NBC!). We’ll get it up on Oohlo a.s.a.p.
