Holy shake my martini, Scully; WHAT IS HAPPENING?
First we’re arguing over Idris and the Hiddles as the film franchise’s next James Bond, and the media frenzies over whether or not Daniel Craig is even ready to leave. Next, I make the SWINTON, suggestion, only to be usurped by the — depending upon your viewpoint — equally or superior suggestion of Gillian Anderson as 007, an idea I simply cannot get out of my head. FTR, I adore and worship Tilda, but I do believe Gillian would knock this role out of the stratosphere, so I’m Team Anderson. And, you’ll never believe what’s next.
Who’s that, you may be wondering? No, it’s not Katey Sagal’s long lost twin; it’s actually Danish director Susan Bier (The Night Manager, After the Wedding, In a Better World), reportedly on the short list to direct the next Bond film. AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS?*
- Tom Hiddleston is probably getting ready to sign on the dotted line; Bier directed him through his audition, and boy howdy, did he do well.
- It’s very possible Gillian Anderson could play a future 007 incarnation. After all, it’s pretty much been proven that female directors hire more females; women support women.
By my calculations slightly ridiculous and far-reaching suppositions, hiring Bier may directly lead to our dreams coming true; it could be the first step to a female 007, and she could be played by one of the most intelligent, dynamic, already weapons-trained, stunning, part British actresses on the planet.
Oh and pardon me, but I think it’s worth noting both Bier and Anderson have connections to a certain fella we’re fond of…
Bond Boy, anyone?
