Maisie Williams and Daisy Ridley Continue to Prove They’re Both Wise Beyond Their Years

Suri Cruise turned 10 yesterday, but her father Tom was on the set of The Mummy. Given his profession, that’s understandable, but I can’t help wondering if Tom has written off his youngest (we almost never hear about them being together anymore) because Katie Holmes pulled her away from The Path Scientology. (Lainey Gossip)

Joss Whedon is publicly lamenting his “miserable failure” aka Avengers:  Age of Ultron. It wasn’t my favorite, but I certainly wouldn’t count it as either miserable or a failure. Chin up, Joss! (i09)

I want to like Emily VanCamp’s Captain America:  Civil War Paris premiere dress, but I just vancan’t (sorry!).  And I have no idea where Don and RDJ think they’re going — to a hot mess? (Tom + Lorenzo)

Mixed (read:  altered) Reality is coming, and despite my misgivings about technology, I’m strangely excited. Magic Leap is about to take us to other worlds, so get ready to strap on your heavy (if they’re anything like night vision goggles) VR headgear. (Wired)

We know and still sob over Freddie Mercury’s incredible voice and range; we try to emulate him in the car. Science confirms it’s highly unlikely we — or anyone else — will ever come close. That glorious falsetto rang out from a natural baritone, and a study reveals he used “subharmonics” to achieve unique sounds. Daisy Ridley continues to be a remarkable young woman who uses social media to challenge perceptions. (Instagram)

On to the GoT heavy portion of today’s links; Maisie Williams may have a boyfriend, but she doesn’t know if she wants to ever get married. More importantly, she realizes the opportunity a role like Arya Stark has provided her, and knows she never has to settle for lesser roles. (Celebitchy)

Does the return of  ***Spoiler!*** to Game of Thrones mean ***Book Spoiler*** is also returning? The correlation isn’t absolute, but I do think Benioff and Weiss are saving ***Book Spoiler*** for a late surprise. ***Possible Spoilers*** at the link. (MTV/Watchers on the Wall)

The Wait Is Over. Here’s HBO’s latest Game of Thrones TV spot. Can I just say that I’m not down with Khaleesi whipping or Melisandre disrobing (no more shadow babies!) again? (YouTube)

Speaking of…here’s a first look at Finn Jones (aka Loras Tyrell) as Danny Rand, filming Netflix’s Iron Fist. I know nothing about this character; is he supposed to be prance-y?  (Comic Book Resources)

Netflix and Marvel’s superhero series are among those Netflix will make HDR streaming available for this year. (The Verge)

I may joke about misanthropy, but there are many good people out there. Like these Houston folks who helped rescue over 50 horses trapped horses after the record rainfall and flooding. (Mashable)

At first I wasn’t sure if it was too on the nose, but after a bit of staring, I think this reader sofa is wicked cool. (Mental Floss).

Tim Curry is 70 today. Seventy. Hot dogs for everyone! (Dlisted)

  • Poor Joss, he’s clearly WAY to hard on himself. Even when AoU came out and ya it wasn’t a critical darling it was no BvS – and he was super negative about everything like RIGHT AWAY. poor guy was so burnt out. He needs a hug, and then needs to maybe do another Much Ado project to clear his brain so we can get a new even better project.

I quite like Ridley’s work-out videos, and find them inspiring. In them, exercise looks like hard work, she’s sweating, and doesn’t always look like she’s enjoying herself. For some reason, that makes me want to get off my butt and do my own (considerably lighter) routines as well.
